Do you want to join SSC?

Are you or is your child interested in joining Sutton Swimming Club?

Anyone who is 6 years or older and can swim at least 1 length unaided is eligible to try out! Pop along to one of our training sessions and either watch from the balcony to give yourself an idea of the standard required or bring your kit and come and have a go.

Most tryouts will be in a small pool session but depending on your age you may be asked to join the big pool session; send us a message through the 'Contact us' page if you are not sure.  This session will give our coaches the opportunity to assess your ability. The training session will also give you the opportunity to see what is involved and to meet other swimmers at the club.

As a non-member you can train with us for a trial period of three weeks (a maximum of six sessions) after which, if the Head Coach considers that you are of an acceptable standard and makes an offer of membership, you will need to make a decision whether you wish to take-up that offer and join us.

If you are already at another swimming club and are looking to transfer - perhaps you are moving into the Sutton-in-Ashfield area - then do get in touch (see contacts) and we'll take it from there.

Membership rates for the calendar year 2008 are:

£30 Individual

£60 Family (2 or more swimmers)

The admission fee to each training session is currently set at £2.50.

This year will see Members subject to Sutton Swimming Club’s newly adopted Rules, modelled upon those of the Amateur Swimming Association. It is vitally important that you are aware that the conduct of all Club Members is now governed by these Rules.

The Committee would like to point out that Sutton Swimming Club is a competitive swimming club. It is not a club for leisure swimmers or a replacement for swimming lessons. Its purpose, as outlined within the Club’s Mission Statement, is to offer children within the Ashfield area the best opportunity to develop and achieve their maximum potential in the sport of competitive swimming.

To achieve this there is a commitment expected from swimmers and their parent(s)/guardian(s):

-to attend regular training sessions i.e. at least 2-sessions per week for large pool swimmers

-to represent the Club in the various competitions/galas when called upon to do so

All of our coaching staff give their time generously, freely and without any reward and are ultimately focussed on the task of delivering the Club’s objectives. It is not acceptable for swimmers and their parent(s)/guardian(s) to call upon staff time in pursuit of any other objective, or without being prepared to offer the level of commitment considered necessary to achieve the club’s aims. To do so will detract from those individuals who are fully committed.

Accordingly, we would ask that you consider the above very carefully when making your application for membership of Sutton Swimming Club.

You will be making an Application for Membership. Every application will be subject to individual consideration by the Committee and Election to Membership will be granted by the Committee in accordance with clause 3.2 of the Club Rules where appropriate. It is important to note that this will be a feature not only of Sutton Swimming Club but of the many other clubs seeking to obtain Swim21 accreditation. In considering all applications the Committee will have regard to the swimmer’s ability/potential and the level or likely level of commitment to achieving the stated objectives of the Club. As a club we understand that swimmers and their parent(s)/guardian(s) have other commitments which affect their ability to attend galas/training sessions but where this is frequently the case and the swimmer’s commitment is as a consequence called into question, continued Membership will be decided by the Committee in accordance with clause 6 of the Club’s Rules.

By signing an Application for Membership it will be assumed you have done so in full knowledge of the requirements detailed within this notice and within the Club Rules.

If you have any queries, then please do not hesitate to contact any member of the Committee or coaching staff. Many thanks for your support.

We also appreciate parents and guardians who are happy to help out at gala's and participate on a voluntary basis in the day to day running of the club!

Welcome to Sutton Swimming Club!
