19th February 2008

Thanks Sam!

Sam is currently in Florida but found 5 minutes to send us an email about how he feels about the County Champs and what its like to swim for team GB.

County Champs is going fantastically well!  It is good to produce some excellent swims on the back of heavy training which is very promising for me for the rest of the Olympic year!

It is so good to see lots of other members of the club having equally good success !! and to compete as part of that team was special too!..... This is where I started so who knows where some others from Sutton SC may go !!

I was really pleased to break the 3 World Records and I am now hoping to build on that and move on even more!

It amazing to swim for GB and to train with the GB Squad and it is the most awesome experience to stand on a Podium and win a Medal for your Country!!...... as i experienced in Germany last year!!  We inspire each other in training and also competition and support each other as a team which is great.

We all have our individual disability and we help each other with that
As a GB Swimmer on The World Class Programme we get fantastic support from the Coaching and support staff which all play an important part in Team GB success!

Lets hope Sutton SC can carry on the success we started with at the 2008 County Champs!

Sam

Congratulations to Sam Hynd !

He has again made history at the County Championships when he smashed his own S8 Category BRITISH, EUROPEAN and WORLD IPC 400m Freestyle Short course Record (subject to ratification). In a fantastic performance, Sam slashed a full three seconds off his own record, clocking 4.24.8.

Sam then went onto break the World Records for the SB8 200m Breaststroke and S8 200m Freestyle over the weekend, again subject to ratification.

He and 11 other swimmers from the Nova Centurion Squad fly off to Florida for a two week training camp, from 18th February 2008, to train for the British Champs and Olympic and Paralympic Trials in March.
