Changes to website
I am currently making some changes to the layout of the website and will be adding more information regularly over the next few weeks. I don't want the menu to be too cluttered so have tucked some pages away. E.g. Everything to do with galas is now in the gala info pages.
This site's primary aim is to inform parents and swimmers and if you have any ideas about how this site could be improved then please Contact us or use the forum.
We thank you for taking the time to visit our web-site. We hope you find it of interest!
Thank you
Big thank you to CRS Risk who have allowed us to use their risk assessment software free of charge. If anyone would like a free trial of the CRS Risk software please click the logo above.

A potted history...
Sutton Swimming Club was first formed in 1927 and initially comprised separate gents and ladies clubs. In 1930 the two clubs joined together and were simply divided into junior and senior members. Annual membership fees were 2/6d for the junior members and 5/- for seniors... with towels provided!
Training sessions took place on Tuesday evenings during the swimming season (Easter until the end of September) with an admission charge of 2d and 4d. From October the pool was covered over and used for dancing and other functions.
During the war the pool was closed to accommodate army personnel and afterwards, in 1946, the club reformed and practiced not just swimming but also Water Polo and Royal Life Saving.
The club has evolved and grown over the years and now is exclusively a competitive swimming club, competing in many different swim leagues and competitions. The club is open to children from the age of 6 where basic swim skills are taught in our small pool. Swimmers are then developed to progress to our large (25m) pool and coached to County standard and above.
2007 saw us celebrate our 80th year of coaching the children of Ashfield. We are as committed as ever to providing a friendly, family atmosphere where children can enjoy their swimming, develop their skills and stamina and go on to achieve their full potential in the sport of competitive swimming.
We have a history of producing some excellent Nottinghamshire County swimmers and currently around 10% of our members are part of the Nova squad. The 2006 County Championship's saw our club produce the boys 12's County Champion, the boys 13U County Individual Medley Relay Champions and many other top 10 overall placing's. One of our swimmers, Sam Hynd is now a member of the Great Britain Disability World Class Potential squad and will selflessly attribute much of his achievements to date to Sutton S.C's coaching staff. A great achievement for what is a relatively small club and is true testimony to the hard work, dedication and skills of our coaching staff and not least of our swimmers!
Our club emblem, a bird, is often a talking point!
For those ornithologically challenged the bird is in fact a Snipe... locally it is known as the Sutton Snipe, once the emblem of Sutton Town Council (now of course Ashfield District Council). We are able to use the Sutton Snipe as our club emblem after we were authorised by the town council many years ago, an honour bestowed upon very few bodies; we are one of only two sports clubs known to have been permitted by the council to use it, the other being Sutton Town Football Club - The Snipes!
